Pests we treat

Each treatment starts with a survey to confirm the pest and find how it is getting in.

Rats

Usually found in lofts, under floors, in sheds and around bins and drains.

  • Droppings, gnawing and runs checked to find the way in
  • Traps or locked bait boxes set where pets and children cannot reach them
  • Up to three visits: the treatment and two return checks

Mice

Found in kitchens, cupboards, lofts and wall cavities, often from autumn as it gets colder.

  • Entry points found around pipes, air bricks and door bottoms
  • Traps or bait placed along runs
  • Up to three visits: the treatment and two return checks

Wasp nests

Nests in lofts, eaves, sheds, bushes and wall cavities, mostly from late spring to early autumn.

  • Insecticide applied at the nest entrance
  • One visit for most nests
  • Nests that cannot be reached safely are discussed with you first

Rats and drains

Rats live in sewers and can enter a building through a broken drain, an open pipe under the floor or a missing rodding cap. If they keep coming back after treatment, a CCTV drain survey can find the break.

Because Fixwise also clears, jets and surveys drains, the pest treatment and the drain work can be quoted together.

Business premises

Cafés, takeaways, shops and stores are checked for droppings, gnawed packaging and entry points around deliveries and bins. Kitchens are treated with methods that suit food areas.

After each visit we leave a written record of what was found and treated, ready for food hygiene inspections.

Bees are not treated as pests

Honeybees are not destroyed. If you have a swarm, a local beekeeping association may be able to collect it. Tell us what you can see and we will say whether it is wasps or bees.

What we need to know

  1. What you have seen or heard. Droppings, scratching, gnawing or a nest.
  2. Where. Which rooms, the loft, outbuildings or the garden.
  3. How long. When you first noticed it.
  4. Pets and children. So bait and traps can be placed safely.

Questions about pest control

Is the treatment safe with pets?

Bait is placed in locked boxes or where pets cannot reach it. Tell us about cats, dogs and other animals so we can plan where traps and boxes go.

How many visits will it take?

A wasp nest is usually one visit. Rat and mouse treatments include up to three visits: the treatment and two return checks.

Can you treat a rented property when tenants are in?

Yes. Once you have told the tenant when we are coming, we show them where traps or boxes have been placed.
