Preparation in older Welsh houses

Many terraces and farmhouses in South and West Wales have solid stone or brick walls and lime plaster. These walls need to dry out, so we use breathable paints on them where the existing finish allows.

Damp patches are painted over only once the cause has been fixed. If we find a leak or failed pointing while preparing, we tell you before carrying on.

Exterior painting needs dry days, so outside work is booked around the weather and may move if it rains.

What we need to price the work

  1. Rooms or walls. Which rooms, or which sides of the building outside.
  2. Photos. One of each room or wall, showing any cracks, stains or peeling paint.
  3. Colours. The colour and finish if you have chosen them, or "same as now".
  4. Furniture and access. Whether rooms will be empty and, outside, how high the walls are.
